Applying for an F1 or J1 VISA
After you have been admitted to Concordia as an International student, please review the below steps to apply for an F1 or J1 VISA.
- F1 Students: Students no longer need to have Concordia mail them a physical copy of their I-20, the digital F1 I-20 is sufficient for your VISA interview
- J1 Students: Concordia will mail your DS-2019 form within the week of receiving all pertinent information
Provide proof of funding for a minimum of one year of study in the form of a bank statement, loan, etc.
If a relative or parent is sponsoring you, please submit a letter of support to accompany the funding. Your sponsor may have an affidavit from their bank sent to us or they may complete the attached form. You may email these documents to international.admissions@cuw.edu or upload them to your online application.
Submit a copy of your passport to either international.admissions@cuw.edu or upload to your online application.
Upon acceptance to the University, a $300 tuition deposit is required for undergraduate students.
A $650 tuition deposit is required for graduate students. This is not an additional fee, but a payment that secures your spot at the University and is put toward your tuition upon arrival. This deposit is good for one year of intakes (ie: Fall to Summer to Spring, or Spring to Summer to Fall, or Summer to Fall to Spring).
If the embassy denies your visa, you can either defer (see Deferral Process tab for details), or you can fill out the form below to request a refund of your tuition deposit. A refund should only be requested if you decide that you no longer wish to pursue a degree at Concordia. If you are eligible, we would withdraw your application, cancel your I-20, and refund your tuition deposit.
Please note the following conditions apply to tuition deposit refunds:
- The embassy must have denied your visa in the last 60 days. Concordia will need to verify the denial date.
- Only tuition deposits paid toward this current application are refundable. If you have applied to the university more than once, deposits from prior applications cannot be refunded.
- The payment processor that Concordia uses charges a transaction fee, both when you submit a deposit and when we issue a refund. These transaction fees will be deducted from the amount that you are refunded.
- Only your tuition deposit is refundable. Any other fees you've paid, such as I-20 deferral fees, are non-refundable.
If an F-l/J-1 student is interested in receiving a dependent I-20/DS-2019 for his/her spouse and/or children, then the following form must be completed. On completion, additional instructions will follow.
