The first step towards a career in occupational or physical therapy
The BSRS Accelerated Program offers a focused education to provide you with the core skills and knowledge for a successful transition from undergraduate to graduate studies in Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy at CUW. The accelerated format provides the major courses and prerequisites for entering our Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT), Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD), or Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program. Pre-OT Students
If you are a Pre-OT student, you can apply for CUW’s Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) Program as a high school senior through the Direct Admit MOT Program. If accepted, you will complete your Rehabilitation Science undergraduate degree and Occupational Therapy master degree in 4 ½ years! Coursework will focus on the undergraduate portion for the first 2 ½ years and then transition to graduate studies during the middle of junior year. If you opt for the Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) degree, you can be finished with both the undergraduate and doctoral degree in 5 years. Our faculty and staff will help you choose the path that best suits your individual goals and needs.
Student who are not accepted into the Direct Admit MOT Program are welcome to enroll as Rehabilitation Science Pre-OT students and apply to the MOT Program during sophomore year at CUW. Applications at this time will be considered for any available spots with the graduate cohort. If accepted, graduate coursework will begin during the middle of junior year allowing you to also graduate with a bachelor and master degree in 4 ½ years or a bachelor and doctorate degree in 5 years!
Pre-PT Students
If you are a Pre-PT student, you can apply to the DPT Program as a BSRS Accelerated student during the summer between your sophomore and junior year and begin graduate studies during your senior year. This option allows students to complete the DPT degree in 6 rather than 7 years. This option is open to Rehabilitation Science students who enter CUW as freshmen and take all science prerequisite coursework at CUW. BSRS Accelerated students are prioritized applicants into the CUW DPT Program. If you pursue admission through the Accelerated process, you will receive a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Science after completing your fourth year of academic study at Concordia University.
The BSRS Traditional Program offers a 4 year option for students seeking an undergraduate degree in preparation for entering occupational therapy, physical therapy, or other healthcare graduate programs. Students in the traditional program will complete the same undergraduate coursework as the Accelerated Program and any graduate prerequisite coursework in 4 years. This option allows students to pursue a minor or elective coursework. Rehabilitation Science Traditional students are prioritized for before external applicants to our CUW MOT/OTD and DPT Programs. Application to CUW graduate programs would occur after junior year.
In addition to offering our BSRS Accelerated and Tradition programs, we offer the BSRS Bridge Program for students who have achieved an associate degree and current license as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) or an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA). This unique program provides a pathway for students to pursue their bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Science and transition to the graduate DPT Bridge and MOT/OTD Bridge Programs at CUW. Courses in the BSRS undergraduate curriculum are offered in a fully online format. Courses needed to meet the CUW core or graduate program prerequisites can be transferred to CUW. The BSRS Dual Degree is a collaborative program between CUW and Shanghai Normal University Tianhua College (SNUTC) in Shanghai, China. This program aims to prepare students from China to become qualified rehabilitation therapists with a sound understanding of rehabilitation science knowledge and practical skills to work in rehabilitation hospitals, primary community health service centers, rehabilitation centers, and rehabilitation nursing homes in China. Students apply and are accepted to the BSRS Dual Degree Program by SNUTC and take courses during their first and sophomore years at SNUTC taught by faculty in Shanghai and CUW faculty. Students with good academic standing and English proficiency may choose to study their junior year courses at CUW in person. Students return to SNUTC during senior year to complete an internship in China. Graduates of the BSRS Dual Degree are eligible to apply for CUW graduate programs in Occupational and Physical Therapy if they meet the admissions criteria for academics and English proficiency.

Candidates for enrollment in accredited healthcare programs should contact the program director for detailed information and refer to their acceptance letter for any updates about delays or cancellations. Once a student is matriculated into an accredited program, the University is committed to completing the program.
