As a requirement of the CRRSAA Act (HEERF II) the following disclosures are provided. This information includes the allocation and criteria of student selection.
- Concordia acknowledges that it has signed and returned to the Department of Education the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the institution has used, or intends to use, no less than $1,833,684 of the funds received under Section 314(a)(1) of the CRRSAA Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
- The total amount of funds that the institution will receive or has received from the Department pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement [for] Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Student.
Concordia University, as part of the CARES Act (HEERF), has received $1,833,684 million dollars for student emergency grants. 100% of these funds have or will be given to students directly in cash payment either via direct deposit or paper checks.
- The total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants distributed to students under Section 314(a)(1) of the CARES Act as of the date of submission (i.e., as of the 30-day Report and every 45 days thereafter).
As of 7/1/2021, $1,833,684.00 dollars have been sent out to students either via direct deposit or paper check or applied to students accounts with student confirmation.
- The estimated total number of students at the institution eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 314(a)(1) of the CRRSAA Act.
The Department of Education has stated that eligibility for this grant includes students who are US citizens. The total number of students at Concordia who meet these criteria is 4,609.
- The total number of students who have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students under Section 314(a)(1) of the CARES Act.
Total number of students awarded CARES Act grants as of 7/1/2021 is 3,017.
- The method(s) used by the institution to determine which students receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants and how much they would receive under Section 314(a)(1) of the CARES Act.
Concordia University is please to be able to distribute Emergency Student Grants funded by the CRRSAA Act (HEERF II). The university follows all federal guidelines with the methodology of distribution. All students must be eligible as described in item 4 above. Below is listed the four ascending criteria for student distribution.
- The Department of Education has stated that the grant should first go to students who were most impacted by the disruption by COVID-19 and have the highest need. Need has been determined by Concordia for CRRSAA (HEERF II) Cost of Attendance less EFC (Estimated Family Contribution) less Federal, State and Institutional grants and scholarships. Given these guidelines, all students whose need is greater than $30,000 will receive $1,100
- Second, students with need greater than $20,000 but less than $30,000 will receive a grant of $850.
- Third, students with need greater than $10,000 but less than $20,000 will receive a grant of $475.
- Last, students with need greater than $0 but less than $10,000 will receive a grant of $200.
- Part Time students were given a prorated amount based on the number of credits as of 3/2/21 divided by full time credits. Full time for an undergraduate is 12 credits and full time for a graduate student is 9 credits.
- Graduate students under the age of 24 as of March 18th, 2020 will receive this grant. Graduate students over the age of 24 as of March 18th, 2020 will not receive this grant as they have received multiple payments from Coronavirus relief.
- Spring 2021 On Campus student who filled out a 2020-2021 FAFSA will receive a grant of $200.
- Any instructions, directions, or guidance provided by the institution to students concerning the Emergency Financial Aid Grants.
Students are not required to complete any application to receive these funds. All students who are receiving a CRRSAA Act grant will be emailed a certification notice that will clarify what their grant allocation is and reminders on how the Department of Education has instructed these funds to be used. This certification will also instruct students what these funds are intended to be used for and to return these dollars if the student does not have need.
